Hawaii changes the math

Hawaii is not a mainland copy-paste market. Coastal corrosion shortens the life of metal equipment, so we care about coatings, anchoring, and maintenance plans as much as we care about the invoice price. AC repair stays active because humidity and heat push more cars into the bay with cooling complaints, and that creates demand for refrigerant machines, vacuum pumps, and diagnostic tools that can keep up. Permitting also matters. If a project in Honolulu, Maui County, Hawaii County, or Kauai touches electrical, drainage, plumbing, or structural work, the calendar can stretch, so we structure funding around deposits, staged installs, and vendor timelines rather than assuming everything lands on day one. Freight is another real cost here: a lift shipped to Oahu or a scan tool sent to the neighbor islands can carry a different landed cost than the mainland sticker price, and that belongs in the financing conversation.

What we ask for

For Hawaii applicants, we usually want the file clean before it leaves the dock. For many term-loan or line-of-credit requests, 12 months in business is the practical floor; for SBA 7(a), the standard is 24 months. Credit is product-dependent, but the clean approvals sit around 580+ for equipment financing and 600+ for term loans or lines, with 640 helping if the owner wants SBA.
